Volunteers do not count to the required staff or staff to individual served ratio stipulated by the regulation. Volunteers go through same process as the prospective regular employees regarding credential review and clinical privileging. Volunteers can apply for vacant position like any other applicant. The good thing is that the experience gained during the volunteer period will be an added advantage to understand the workings and needs of the agency and may help the person qualify for the vacant position competitively.
